cleared to export to US and EU

Ras Al Khaimah: Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) announced on Wednesday that the company has won approval by the US Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to export the company's injectables to the US.
Julphar also won the approval of the health regulatory agencies to export its products to the European Union.
Abdul Razzaq Yousef, CEO of Julphar, said the company won FDA approval for Vancolon and some of the company's other products.
He said that the approvals are an indication of Julphar's commitment to quality and these markets will be open to the company's products.
He said it is very difficult to export to the US and EU because, even if Arab companies succeeded in registering their products and can accommodate the high cost of registration (around $200,000 per product), other prerequisites, such as verification by FDA and EU authorities which may take up to 3 years, impose technical barriers that coupled with the availability of the right partner for imports, hinder Arab companies from exporting.
He noted that the US and Europe look at Middle Eastern countries as consuming markets and not as producing markets.
